Appleton Legends Clinches Lead In Eighth Inning To Defeat Green Bay Storm

The Appleton Legends snatched the lead late in the game in a 6-3 victory over Green Bay on Tuesday.

The Appleton Legends snatched the lead late in the game in a 6-3 victory over Green Bay on Tuesday. With one out in the bottom of the eighth Cam Crawford induced Zach Sheldon to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

Appleton got on the board in the second inning. Trent Blake singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.

Appleton knotted the game up at three in the bottom of the seventh inning. Bryce Cross drove in one when he singled.

Jason Malkowski led the Legends to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He allowed zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking one.

Zach Watzka took the loss for Green Bay. He allowed eight hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out six and walking zero.

Evan Sankey started the game for Appleton. He lasted six innings, allowing seven hits and three runs while striking out nine and walking one

Appleton collected nine hits on the day. Ryan BrouchTony Krueger, and Cross each had multiple hits for Appleton LegendsCrossKrueger, and Brouch each managed two hits to lead Appleton Legends.

Green Bay tallied seven hits on the day. Marcus Rauschenbach and Brett Reinhart each racked up multiple hits for Green BayRauschenbach went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Storm in hits.
