Appleton pulled out a victory over Menasha in a Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League game at Koslo Park on Friday night.

MENASHA – Appleton pulled out a victory over Menasha in a Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League game at Koslo Park on Friday night.

The Macs had taken a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a run-scoring double by Sam Hawley. Hawley’s hit drove home Zach Carney, who reached on an error.

Appleton tied the game in the third on Colten Schild’s RBI single, which scored Matt Baehman.

The Legends took a 2-1 lead in the fourth. Kevin Kangas, who reached on an error, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt, took third on an error and scored on Courtney Watkins’ run-scoring single.

Jason Malkowski pitched 6 1/3 innings to get the win for the Legends. Malkowski allowed four hits, one run and one walk while striking out seven. Jack Mahoney pitched the final 2 2/3 innings to get the save.

Brian Brown started for the Macs and took the loss, going 5 1/3 innings and allowing two runs on four hits and two walks. He struck out six.
