Menasha Macs captures lead early to defeat the Sheboygan A’s

The Sheboygan A's fell behind early and couldn't recover, which ultimately resulted in a 13-1 loss to the Menasha Macs on Tuesday.

SHEBOYGAN, WI- The Sheboygan A’s fell behind early and couldn’t recover, which ultimately resulted in a 13-1 loss to the Menasha Macs on Tuesday.

The Macs scored seven runs in the first innings to help them secure the win. These runs came in a variety of fashions: a single by Griffin Jack, a walk by Steven Jacobson, a single by Mike Berben, a fielder’s choice by Sam Hawley and a double by Emmett Kulick all assisted with the seven run rally for the Macs.

On the mound, Eric Zuberbier earned the win for the Macs. He pitched seven innings, allowing one run, six hits, striking out six and walking one. John VanderPloeg took the loss for the A’s. He tossed four innings, allowing eight runs, five hits and striking out three.

The one positive note offensively for the A’s was Harry Steldt. Steldt went 2-for-3 at the plate as he led the team with one run batted in after hitting a solo home run.

The Macs collected a total of eight hits. Hawley and Berben each had multiple hits on the night. The A’s were only able to collect a total of six hits.

This win gives the Macs a 7-3 record in the NEWBL, while the A’s fall to 7-4.

The Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League is a top-tier, wooden bat, adult semi-professional baseball league located in northeastern Wisconsin. Players in the league are considered amateur status, are not paid and consist mostly of current college baseball players, as well as former college and professional players.
