Green Bay Storm captures lead early to defeat Marinette Redbirds

The Marinette Redbirds fell behind early and were unable to make a come-back in a 10-0 loss against the Green Bay Storm on Friday night.

MARINETTE, WI- The Marinette Redbirds fell behind early and were unable to make a come-back in a 10-0 loss against the Green Bay Storm on Friday night.

The Storm captured the lead in the first inning and never looked back. Derek Klegin singled to score a run and the Storm found themselves with a 1-0.

The first was not the biggest inning for the Storm however; they racked up four runs in the eighth inning. This big inning included a two singles by Kyle Mrozinski and Tyler Brown.
For the Redbirds, a single by JP Powers in the fourth inning was a high point offensively for the team.

Jake McMahon earned the win for Green Bay. He threw nine innings, surrendering zero runs, one hit, striking out ten and walking zero. Matt Hansen took the loss for Marinette. He pitched six innings, surrendering five runs, nine hits and striking out four.

On the offensive side of things, the Storm collected a total of 15 hits. Hunter Larson, Andrew Peterik, Adam Enwiya, Brown and Mrozinski each collected multiple hits for Green Bay. Powers lead at the plate for the Redbirds going 1-for-4 on the night.

This win puts the Storm at 6-2 on the season, while the Redbirds find themselves at 3-6.

The Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League is a top-tier, wooden bat, adult semi-professional baseball league located in northeastern Wisconsin. Players in the league are considered amateur status, are not paid and consist mostly of current college baseball players, as well as former college and professional players.
